• Menu: Steamed Oysters (shuck your own tables and pre-packaged cups), fried catfish, BBQ Pork (pulled), bistro clam chowder, coleslaw, salt potatoes, green beans, rolls and banana pudding.

The OysterFest has been the Garner Rotary Club’s primary fundraiser for the past 14 years.  It is a community event, that also features a band and a varied menu; the OysterFest is a vehicle that also allows the community to contribute to raising scholarship funds.  Income comes from sponsorships and ticket sales.

The Garner Rotary was founded in August, 1978.  Today it has 47 members, meeting weekly at a local church for breakfast.  Throughout the years, the club has contributed both time and money for local and international Rotary projects.  The need to help graduating high school seniors with finances associated with higher education has been a targeted interest of the Garner Rotary Club for many years.  Each year the club selects students to receive scholarships to assist with first year expenses to attend either a four-year accredited institution or Wake Technical College.  The amount of scholarship money awarded to date to local students total more than $217,000, including $11,500 to eight students this spring.
