On February 22 at 11 a.m., community leaders, YMCA volunteers, donors and staff will gather for the dedication and ribbon cutting celebration at the Poole Family YMCA at 2110 Aversboro Road in Garner.

Opening March 7, the Poole Family YMCA is a state-of-the-art facility with the capacity to serve 5,000 adults, families and children.

“The Poole Family YMCA is truly home grown and was made possible through the tremendous support of the Garner community,” said Bruce Murray, Poole Family YMCA executive director. “We celebrate the realization of the community’s dream for this YMCA and look forward to opening our doors to our community.”

Volunteers exceeded a capital campaign goal by raising $7.2 million to build the new YMCA. The facility is named in recognition of Lonnie and Carol Poole and their generous support of the capital campaign to build the YMCA in Garner. The 14-acre campus is named the Bell Family Campus in honor of the Victor Bell family and their generous donation of land.

As one of the newest branches of the YMCA of the Triangle, the facility includes:
  • Wellness Center & Group Exercise Studios
  • Indoor Track
  • Gymnasium
  • Nursery/ Kids' Adventure Area
  • Youth Program Space
  • Outdoor Aquatics Center
  • Men's & Women's Locker Rooms
  • Sauna
The Poole Family YMCA will offer a full line of group fitness classes. Adult and youth sports leagues, Swim for Life and LIVESTRONG at the YMCA programs will also be offered.
