Children can get ready for kindergarten in the new year at select Wake County Public Library locations.   Southeast Regional Library is offering a weekly school readiness program for pre-school aged children called ABC Craft and Learn. Children and their caregivers will work on a craft that helps them practice the alphabet and learn other skills for the classroom.

Caregivers will learn ways to continue to develop those skills at home.

ABC Craft and Learn sessions will be held Saturdays @ 11:30 a.m. at Southeast Regional Library In partnership with Marbles Children’s Museum, Wake County also offers Ready, Set, School—a series of community playdates for children ages three to five years old.

Through play-based activities in English and Spanish, pre-kindergarteners will gain fine motor, spatial perception and social skills, while building confidence and independence.

“Starting kindergarten is an exciting milestone for children and their parents, and we want to help make sure every child is set up to succeed,” said Ann Burlingame, deputy library director. “Our library programs are fun and interactive, but most importantly, they will help families be ready for the transition to kindergarten.”

Ready, Set, School playdates will be held on Saturdays beginning in January and running through May 20.
