In an effort to support the students and fund our new FFA chapter at South Garner High School, we are launching a community support campaign.  By doing so, we are asking you to become a year-long sponsor of the South Garner FFA chapter. The FFA is the nation’s largest high school youth organization with 669,989 members in all 50 states, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, while North Carolina has approximately 20,000 FFA members. The FFA is a student led organization for students interested in agriculture education and leadership. As you know we are a new school and going into our second year of our FFA program. We had 38 members in our first year and are expecting growth this year. Our goal for South Garner FFA members is to make them well rounded citizens when they leave high school. We are equipping them with the hands on as well as leadership skills. There is a growing need of trade skills in the state as well as Garner and we are hoping our kids can take their place in helping grow the Garner community.

The FFA is a charitable, non-profit organization, and your contribution will also be tax deductible. By becoming a sponsor, you and/or your business will be recognized for your contribution throughout the year at every FFA function that we hold. The reason we are asking for sponsorships is because of the different competitions FFA provides along with opportunities some of our members will have. Career development events (CDE) are competitions that our students participate in that demonstrate their knowledge in a specific career field. One of our CDE's, Agricultural Mechanics where members are tested on their hands-on knowledge of construction, welding, electrical, plumbing, small engines, and using a transit. These are typically students who are looking to enter the workforce after high school and will the further development of the Garner community. Having graduates prepared for post graduate life, hopefully helping them find a job should be easy. Just like our CDEs, leadership development events (LDE) are competitions that enhance our students’ leadership skills and are applicable in many career fields. In North Carolina there are over 25 different CDEs and LDEs for students to compete in and we believe preparation for and participation in these events are important in developing a skilled agricultural workforce. Many of these competitions require a registration fee that must be paid.
In addition to our competitive events there are multiple camps that North Carolina FFA provides for its members. There is Wildlife camp in September put on by our North Carolina Wildlife officers, recreational camp, state leadership conference, MEGA leadership conference. All of which are at the NC FFA Center at White Lake, North Carolina with the exception of MEGA which is held in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Below are different ways you can sponsor our FFA members at South Garner. If you wish to give specifically please contact one of the advisors at the bottom of the page and we can give you a list of specific items our members will need throughout the year.
