Passengers are beginning to see changes in the terminals and across campus as the Authority takes additional steps to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. As we head into the traditionally busy summer travel season, we are taking every precaution to allow passengers to fly with confidence.
The Authority has already enhanced cleaning practices and installed signage to promote adherence to public health guidance. Janitorial staff are more frequently cleaning and disinfecting common areas including bathrooms and high-touch surfaces such as ticket counters and kiosks.
We have also placed hand sanitizer stations throughout the terminals with more on the way. We are in the process of installing sneeze guards in common areas including ticket counters, information desks, gate counters and baggage service offices. We will also be deploying more stanchions with new stanchion signage in the ticket lobby, boarding queues and on the concourse to encourage physical distancing and one-way directional flow.
You will likely notice new physical and digital signage throughout campus that remind guests to maintain distance and wear a face covering. We will also install floor stickers and seat covers that show appropriate distancing in baggage claim and in the gate waiting areas.
RDU’s top priority is to protect the health and safety of everyone at the airport. Many safety measures are visible now, with the rest expected to be in place by the end of June.
